Midrange certified creators and resources
On this page I'll share a list of content creators that I think are worth the time investment and will add value to your basketball experience. If you don't see a creator on here it doesn't mean they aren't good and also my opinion is just that. I'm not the arbiter of good and bad creators but I am vehemently against outright scam creators and false advertisers.
Handle by randle: Instagram shorts creator Jerome Randle
He’s a former professional basketball player but gives tons of drills and coaching advice that you won’t find on any other channels, especially for undersized players and point guards. The person I would recommend any point guards to try and emulate. Under rated creator, extremely high IQ and ELITE handles.
By any means basketball: https://www.youtube.com/@ByAnyMeansBasketball
One of the premiere basketball coaching channels and resources to learn the game without all the misdirection and flash. Mainly for players wanting to improve on their own that don’t have access to a trainer or high level coaching, gives advice that’s applicable at all levels. Gives ton’s of valuable information without having to purchase a program. Sometimes has non efficient drills or workouts, but overall very good, drills and content continues improving and will give you a ton of value. Top tier basketball content creator.
Tucker Richardson: https://www.youtube.com/@TuckerRichardson
Current overseas pro that gives great insight on how to play the game the right way. Does great job explaining fundamentals and breaking down what you need and why you need it. Great resource for players that want to understand how to play as a team player and what the majority of players SHOULD be learning.
Trey Drechsel: https://www.youtube.com/@TreyDrechsel5
Current overseas pro, not as informative in terms of basketball strategy and improvement but does a great job giving a players perspective and very entertaining “day in the life” style content. Highly recommend for players wanting to understand what playing over seas typically looks like.
Chima Moneke: https://www.youtube.com/@chimdoggg
My favorite “day in the life” and behind the scenes basketball player content creator. Does a great job getting exclusive interviews with Euro league players. Played briefly in the NBA and now in Euro league so a very interesting perspective plus extremely charismatic. I think his channel will blow up soon.
Bballbreakdown: https://www.youtube.com/@bballbreakdown
Great film breakdown channel. Mainly covers the NBA but does a great job showing stats and research and breaking down HOW teams and players find success. Rarely has a bad take in terms of analyzing game film and is a good place to start learning how to understand the game from an x and O stand point.
Thinking basketball: https://www.youtube.com/@ThinkingBasketball
Good film breakdown channel and probably the gold standard in its category. Covers mainly the NBA and has even partnered with the NBA to do a few breakdowns with players or teams. You are guaranteed to find valuable film breakdown information from this channel and if you’re willing will greatly increase your IQ and perspective on the game.
Drop bombs basketball: https://www.youtube.com/@dropbombsbasketball/videos
Entertaining and under rated basketball channel. Mainly covering commentary on the NBA. Doesn’t drop a ton of content lately but I really enjoy watching their videos when they do.
Devin in the lab: https://www.youtube.com/@Shiftteamhq
Really one of the first true basketball content creators on the platform. Paved the way for most of the basketball lifestyle channels and a true OG of the youtube space. If you haven’t seen his content then you’re missing out. Spends most of his time promoting 1 v 1 style content now but still puts a ton of time into production and large projects around the game.
Coach Frikki: https://www.youtube.com/@CoachFrikki
Fundamental breakdown of tons of basketball moves. Shows in game application and scenarios for both popular and more niche basketball moves and breaks them down so you can apply them to your own game. Almost every skill you can think of is covered in some way on the channel and is one of the best resources online to find something you didnt think you needed to know. Highly recommend as a channel to add to your game especially if you feel stagnant in your development. No flash or gimmicks.
Maximize Basketball Development: https://www.youtube.com/@maximizebasketballdevelopment
One of my favorite coaches in the content space is coach Dags, on this channel he is partnered with coach Coop and they do a great job showing sections of group and individual workouts. Their content isn’t as entertaining for many but for true basketball heads and people wanting behind the scenes look at real workouts then there’s very few better places to go. They do a great job of breaking down concepts and relating the drills and effort into game scenarios. While I dont always agree with the drill or teaching point, they always knock it out of the park with their communication and thought process.
See Mike Dunn: https://www.youtube.com/@SeeMikeDunn/videos
At the moment, he’s my go to shooting advice coach online. It’s truly his passion and he spends a ton of time analyzing and teaching every aspect of shooting. While I personally would never go as in depth on a large scale, his entire page is dedicated to shooting and I almost always understand and agree with his teaching points. If I could only watch one coach online for shooting advice, it would easily be him.
The film room: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSPQ42e82mg
A very good film breakdown channel. I love the fact that they cover multiple different leagues and understand the nuances of the game. Rather than just showing what’s happening on screen, they do a good job of showing tons of examples and explain their concepts very well. This channel will most likely continue to grow and become an expert in the coaching space.
Movers Odyssey: https://www.youtube.com/@moversodyssey
Not specifically a basketball channel but one of the most important resources you can gain is the knowledge on how your body works and how you can apply that to your training and performance. This is a must for anyone wanting to begin their strength and conditioning journey.
TJL Training: https://www.youtube.com/@tjltraining
Excellent drills channel with good explanations, especially for beginners and players that don’t know what to work on. Not a ton of flash or fluff.
Chris Gatlin: https://www.youtube.com/@ChrisGatlinWorkouts
Does a good job showing and explaining basketball workouts. Sometimes players find it more beneficial to learn from creators that are doing the workouts themselves and Chris does this almost exclusively.
Basket head: https://www.youtube.com/@BasketHead
One of my favorite Euroleague channels that breaks down players and story lines with tons of stats and research. Entertaining and insightful content.
Michael MacKelvie: https://www.youtube.com/@michaelmackelvie/videos
One of the best produced and highest quality sports content channels you will find. Makes videos that are stand alone ideas and topics that people have yet to cover so it’s a great source for deeper thinking and conversation.
Whatslaps: https://www.youtube.com/@whatslaps
Highly entertaining NBA commentary channel. Interesting stats, storylines and trends.
Roy Hibbert: https://www.youtube.com/@RoyHibbertYT
Former NBA player Roy Hibbert has a very good editing team so videos are always well produced. Pretty fun channel and always random videos so its a good source of entertainment with some random NBA knowledge.
Jared McCain: https://www.youtube.com/@jaredmccain024
Very goofy videos and over the top sometimes but also does a great job of showing behind the scenes and “Day in the life” style videos at the NBA level.
Basketnews: https://www.youtube.com/@BasketNews_com
Grea tEurolegue content and basketball breakdowns. Tons of videos being posted constantly and a good channel for learning broader ideas and increasing IQ.
Phil Handy: https://www.youtube.com/@94feetofgame
Current NBA skills coach, does a great job of showing very specific footwork style drills and counters. Doesn’t always apply to lower levels under the NBA or to players that aren’t heavy shot creators but still good overall.
Vision Driven Basketball: https://www.youtube.com/@VisionDrivenBasketball
Young up and coming coach that is constantly improving but explains concepts fairly well. His free content is great for players but I don’t know if I would rush to sign up to any of the programs.
Day by Day Basketball:https://www.youtube.com/@daybydaybasketball/videos
Channel that does a good job of posting a variety of basketball content. Good source of free content that can help players gain more of an overall understanding of the game.
Deepgame:https://www.youtube.com/@DeepGameBasketball
One of the OG basketball training channels. He has recently retired but there’s tons of free content to help you grow your understanding of the game and plenty of drills and mindset advice videos.
Breakthrough Basketball: https://www.youtube.com/@BreakthroughBBall/videos
Pretty good source for coaches in general. I would be sure to watch and utilize the free videos on the youtube page before beginning to purchase their products. Not that the products are bad, just most of it is completely unnecessary.
Hoop Doctors:https://www.youtube.com/@Hoop_Doctors/videos
Pretty good source of videos on player breakdowns and NBA trends or storylines. Sometimes branches out into other leagues.
Hoop Venue: https://www.youtube.com/@HoopVenue
One of the most popular channels when it comes to NBA storylines and speculation. High volume of videos but most times does a great job covering all of the story so you get the important information at a glance.
pjfperformance: https://www.pjfperformance.com/
Probably the gold standard when it comes to online strength and conditioning for basketball players. Tons of information on the website and alot of free value offered as well. I’m not a huge fan of online strength and conditioning programs but this is probably as good as it gets and extremely transparent.
Drew Hanlen: https://www.youtube.com/@PureSweat/videos
Good NBA skills trainer, offers alot of behind the scenes or professional players working out. Not always applicable to younger players but it is helpful and inspiring to watch these workouts for perspective.
Out of Bounds:https://www.youtube.com/@Outofboundshoops/videos
Very well put together NBA storyline videos and player retrospectives.
Jxmy Highroller: https://www.youtube.com/@JxmyHighroller
Basketball commentary on primarily the NBA. Drops weekly high quality videos usually on hot topics and popular NBA trends and storylines.
Chris Lykes: https://www.youtube.com/@TheLykeshow
Current pro player and a good channel for undersized guards. Does a good job breaking down and talking through his own film.
Tim Martin Basketball: https://www.youtube.com/@TimMartinBasketball/videos
Professional trainer that posts a ton of interesting behind the scenes and workout videos of pros. Does not apply to every player or cover the fundamentals at all times but good for a perspective on pro style individuals.
All Hail Cullen: https://www.youtube.com/@AllHailCullen
Awesome channel that does campus tours of highschools and colleges.
A.M. Hoops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08CRupYGgFY&t=10s
Highly produced NBA story line and trend videos. Player and team specific speculation videos while sometimes delving into other leagues.
